Dr Peter Kane

I am an orthopaedic surgeon in Northern suburbs, Cape Town. I have lived in Stellenbosch for the last 17 years. I am married to a very supportive wife, Marilize and have been blessed with two children. I am English speaking and grew up in Durban. I have become fluent in Afrikaans, speaking mostly Afrikaans at home ! I received my Bachelor of medicine degree at the University of Witwatersrand. I completed my specialization in Orthopaedics at the University of Stellenbosch in 2010. I have done a variety of Orthopaedic Surgery in the last 13 years in private practice but have taken a special interest in shoulder and knee conditions where my passion now lies. Orthopaedics grabbed my imagination because of its structured, logical thinking and it demands new ways to solve problems. I find that it is a creative discipline.

The subject content and skills it demands are quite amazing and are continuously changing which means that an Orthopaedic surgeon must stay up-to-date. It is my personal challenge to master the subjects. I endeavour to spend time with each patient, explaining the condition, treatment options and outcomes. I understand that people have many questions and I try to do my best to answer them. Together with the patient, we create a treatment plan tailored to that patient. It is imperative to work closely with each patient to construct the best course of action. Surgery must be respected and typically is the last resort when all other Conservative treatments have failed.

I am a member of
